So… the video to accompany the release of Don’t You Keep Yourself Down is very nearly out. Subscribers have had the first viewing and the response so far has been very warm and lovely. Thanks for all your comments. Will keep you posted on single release news.
A fantastic night was had last Saturday with Tom Robinson and his band at The Tabernacle in west London. Tom of “2-4-6-8” fame and “Glad to be Gay” performed his once yearly gig – the Castaway Party – and it was quite an occasion.
Slovakian radio presenter, Peter Radványi has enthused about Slovakia’s largest blues festival held in November which I had the pleasure of performing at with guitarist Johnnie Pastor and his group.
I was absolutely delighted to be able to put in an appearance on Robert Elms’ BBC London Radio show last Friday 7th ahead of my upcoming gig at The Pheasantry.
I had the pleasure of being interviewed by Dutch writer, Ed Muitjen’s for the Johnny’s Garden webzine and a few weeks ago the interview – written in Dutch and translated by Ed into English – went live online. It was a delight answering Ed’s questions which encouraged me to give deep insight into the making of the album. The interview’s a good read too.
Friday was the day that filming took place for the video that will accompany the upcoming release of Don’t You Keep Yourself Down as a single. Directed by award winning film-maker Jan Dunn the film is being set in The Half Moon – south west London’s renowned and well respected music venue.
It was a real pleasure to meet, chat with and perform for BBC Radio Cambridgeshire presenter, Sue Marchant and her listeners last Friday. The trip to Cambridge was well worth it in order to introduce my songs to yet another audience.
A very inspiring few days were spent last week with BBC 6 Music’s Tom Robinson and his partner, Sue Brearley. Invited by the couple to participate on this mini songwriting retreat, I headed to Bore House in Kent to join them and 9 other songwriters and musicians in a bid to use the beautiful setting to get the creative juices flowing in order to write lots of songs.
Dead chuffed to have been invited to join Sue Marchant on her show next week. Performing live and talking about the album, I’m very excited to be meeting Sue who has long been a great supporter of new music and up and coming artists.
