A joyous time was had by my band and I at the Cheltenham Jazz Festival on bank holiday Monday. Playing to a full room on the Jazz Arena stage, the audience was warm and welcoming and I was thriving on the buzz in the air. Lovely to meet so many audience members after the concert too. A big thank you if you came.
Having performed on the Fringe stage of this grand Festival last year, I’m really pleased that I’ve been asked to return this year but this time gracing the Jazz Arena stage. I’ll be with full band too so quite a performance is planned. All details, and ticket information, can be found here.
Always enjoy performing at The Pheasantry in Chelsea so I’m looking forward to a return to this Chelsea venue at the end of February. Singer/songwriter, Vincent Burke performs an opening set before I’ll be superbly accompanied by pianist Arthur Lea and Nick Pini on bass. Booking is a must and for more info, click on this link.
A year after my first performance within this wonderful space, I returned there again last Friday with pianist Arthur Lea, surrounded by yet more grand paintings and a beautifully warm audience. Friend, music lover and supporter Mike Watts was on hand with camera to capture the atmosphere. You can see some of his photographs via the Facebook page.
Very pleased to have been asked to add my vocals to a charity single for Help for Heroes which released at the end of November. “I Wonder Where He Is Now”. Performed by Gary Chilton of “The Soldiers,” the group that captured the Nation’s hearts as the singing trio of full time serving officers of the British Army, the song was written by Adrian Warwick, Mark Young and Mark Wickenden and is now a contender for the Christmas No.1 spot and can be purchased in store or downloaded from i-tunes.
St Nicholas Church – Peper Harow – is the last in this special series of concerts I’ve been performing in churches this year. This beautiful church, based near Godalming in Surrey, has been very tastefully restored after a fire in recent years destroyed much of the interior. Set back and slightly off-the-beaten-trail, this small and intimate space has the most wonderful acoustics therefore making it a perfect setting for the final church stop. Tickets can be bought in advance via SeeTickets or else, at a slightly higher price, on the door. Local singer, Millie Wright provides an opening set and Arthur Lea joins me on piano.
The Gig in a Gallery series got off to a fabulous start at last month’s fundraising concert at Emmanuel Church in Wimbledon. A concert to raise funds to kick-start the GIAG series, performances came from local artists Plumm, Malory Torr and I was thrilled to have the Singology Wimbledon Choir perform alongside me. Mandy Bell and Vincent Burke also featured. And £700 was raised to boot which means planning for the art gallery gig series which will fundraise for Fixers, can get underway. Big thanks to all the sponsors and supporters and to Chris Patmore for taking photographs which can be viewed on our Facebook page.
Gig in a Gallery comes back with a bang in this first concert to take place in Wimbledon on Thursday 18 September at Emmanuel Church in Wimbledon. In promotion of the concert – which will feature a performance from me and guest slots from quirky folk/pop songstress – Malory Torr, local duo, Rakit and the Singology Wimbledon Choir – a free copy of my album, “Day Dawns” is being offered to the first person whose name is pulled from the hat with the correct answer to this question: What is the title of my single release video? Is it a) Don’t You Keep Yourself Up? b) Don’t You Keep Yourself Low? c) Don’t You Keep Yourself Down? Answers to firstname.lastname@example.org by 3pm on Tuesday 16 September please. Concert info and tickets can be found via Brown Paper Tickets.
