I had a fabulous time chatting with Ernie Almond at BBC Three Counties Radio about the making, and release of, Day Dawns.
Before pressing play on any material I read both the reviews and got a feel for what I could expect when I pressed play. The picture I had in my head was a British Lizz Wright, an artist who combines a large number of genres, namely soul, folk, blues, gospel and jazz, and combines them into a warm, organic, soulful sound.
And what a celebration it was. The Green Note was a full house and was brimming with the warmth that emitted from the audience.
Such a lovely gesture and they were accompanied by a card with a heartfelt message which was incredibly touching. Thanks lovely ladies.
Sophie had asked me many weeks ago via Twitter whether I prefer the colour of coffee or tea to which I nonchalantly responded: “Actually I don’t drink either,” which was really unhelpful since she was sneakily trying to decide on the best colours to use to create her painting.
